Government - The Government — the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus — is the central body of state administration exercising the executive power in the Republic of Belarus. In its activity, the Government is accountable to the President and responsible to the Parliament. The Government of the Republic of Belarus administers the system of state administrative bodies accountable to it and other authorities.
The Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus is a collegiate body. It comprises the Prime Minister, his/her Deputies, Ministers and Chairpersons of State Committees. The Government may also comprise Heads of other national bodies of state administration.
The Constitution grants the right to the Government to issue resolutions having a binding force throughout the Republic of Belarus, as well as cancel the acts of ministries and other republican bodies of state administration. The Prime Minister issues instructions.
The Council of Ministers is one of the subjects of law of the legislative initiative. The Government relinquishes powers to the President-elect of the Republic of Belarus.
